MT
NEMRUT

The giant
stone heads adorning the Temple of King Antiochus at the summit of the
mighty Nemrut mountain, are one of the most widely known images of Turkey.
The great temple and tomb located on the top of this 2150 m. high mountain
were built by Anthiochus I Epiphanes (64-38 BC). A living testament to
a two millennia old vanity, the heads of the gods poised on the mountain
top are well worth the visit. Transportation conditions to the site have
radically improved in the last couple of years.
