ANKARA
Although founded by the Hittites more than three millenia ago and settled on by a succession of civilizations, Ankara was a sleepy village until 1923, when the founders of the new republic decided to build their capital here form scratch. As a centrally planned, administrative metropolis Ankara offers everything that urban centers must possess. The nation's best museum - the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, is worth the visit. It is nearly impossible to miss the Anitkabir Ataturk's mauseleoum, the architectural symbol of national conciousness.
