ASSOS

Assos is a beautiful and carefully preserved old town, taking its name from the ancient Greek city it has settled on and around. No new buildings are permitted in the area and the houses are built only from the local stone which, combined with the Mediterrenean flora, creates some unforgettable scenery. Ancient Assos is situated on a rocky hilltop plateau, presenting the visitor with an infinite view overlooking the Aegean Sea. In recent years, an alternative theater festival takes place here, among the ruins of the temple in Ancient Assos.
