URFA
& HARRAN

|
Urfa,
located in the Euprates and Tigris basin, is a very historical town where
settlements date back to the Neolithic period. Throughout its history,
Urfa has served as a center of pilgrimage for many religions, which have
in turn left their mark on the architecture of the city. The atmosphere
in Urfa will behold you to an authentic Oriental experience. The village of Harran, famous for its beehive-like houses, is located 45 km. southeast of Urfa. Being the final remaining settlement in this rural Syrian style, it continues to be as exotic and attractive for tourists as it was in the previous decade. It also has a prominent position in the Bible. It is noted in Genesis 11:31 and 12:4 as the place where Abraham is said to have lodged, on his way from Ur to Canaan. |
