DALYAN - CAUNOS

Dalyan, unlike most other towns in the Mediterranean region, is a multifaceted town offering many different flavors. Located on a rich alluvial plain by a small lake and river, this pretty town is surrounded by sharply rising rock-cliffs, upon which Lycian tombs are carved. One can cruise the lake here in small boats and visit the ruins of Caunus. To the south of Dalyan lies the beautiful Iztuzu beach, famous as the nesting place of caretta caretta, the loggerhead sea turtle, an endangered species under strong protection.
