FETHIYE
Fethiye is a town of approximately 25,000 thousand people, with a well-protected natural harbor. It makes an attractive destination for travelers to the Mediterranean region as it is has many natural and historical places worth visiting. One of the most beautiful beaches in Turkey, Ölüdeniz, 15 km. south of Fethiye, is the main attraction for anyone who enjoys the sun, sea and sand. Patara beach, the longest and widest beach in Turkey, is also nearby, where horse rides are available along the lengthy beach. The best way to reach Patara is to rent a canoe and paddle down the river that runs onto the beach. Saklikent Canyon is altogether a different vibe, located up on the hills, running an 8 km. or so, with a cold river running through sheer rocky cliffs. As for history, the greater Fethiye region is surrounded by a number of important ancient Lycian and Carian cities.
